An adult tern feeds its chick. Photo: Karl Chiang
Chiang, of Greenville, captured the image July 10 near Oregon Inlet.
“I was just outside a protected nesting area when I spotted a baby tern. It was too cute and probably only days old. Then momma showed up with a fish and the whole action took less than second,” Chiang said.
