NAGS HEAD — Cape Hatteras National Seashore is set to host a volunteer event Saturday, Oct. 28, in recognition of Make a Difference Day, a national day of community service.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore is looking for volunteers to plant sea oats for dune restoration along Ramp 4. The drop-in event starts at 9 a.m. and will continue throughout the day until the work is finished or until 4 p.m., whichever comes first. Meet park staff at Ramp 4.
Parking is across the highway from Ramp 4 at the public boat ramp parking lot behind the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. N.C. 12 is a busy route with no pedestrian crosswalk; organizers advise caution while crossing the highway.
Bring leather gloves, water and lunch or snacks. Wear appropriate clothing including closed-toe shoes. Tools will be provided. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian with them.
