Brunswick County Offers Tarps, Food, Water

Brunswick County officials said they will have tarps as well as food and water available for distribution from 11 am. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the following locations:

  • Spring Lake Park, 210 Pine Road in Boiling Spring Lakes.
  • Northwest District Park, 1937 Andrew Jackson Highway NE in Leland.
  • South Brunswick Middle School, 100 Cougar Drive, Boiling Spring Lakes.
  • Town Creek Park, 6420 Ocean Highway East in Winnabow.

There were multiple water main breaks in the county related to Hurricane Florence and the subsequent flooding from the storm. Crews are working to make repairs and to acquire the needed parts.

Water main repairs are ongoing with priority given to critical facilities such as the Brunswick Nuclear Plant and the hospital, where service has been restored.

As repairs continue, the system is subject to pressure losses that could require low-pressure advisories to be re-issued in areas where advisories had been rescinded.

County officials said that at no time did water that was not properly disinfected make its way to customers.  All system advisories are the result of low-pressure from water main breaks that can have the potential to introduce contaminants into the system.
