Dare County’s Current TV recently released this video public service announcement advising swimmers to “live like a local” by knowing ocean conditions and being wary of powerful waves breaking on and near shore when swimming. The video features Kill Devil Hills lifeguard and surf instructor Bri Young, who offers tips on the importance of respecting the ocean’s power. Current TV is a collaborative effort to provide informational programming supported by the towns of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and Manteo, as well as the Dare County government and school system, the University of North Carolina Coastal Studies Institute and College of The Albemarle.
