The 33rd annual beach sweep across the Outer Banks will take place Saturday.
Organized by the Outer Banks chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, volunteers can drop by one of the designation cleanups between 9 a.m. and noon, where they will be provided with trash bags, cleanup gear, data cards and direction on where to clean.
Head to the following locations Saturday morning for the beach sweep:
- Kitty Hawk Kayak & Surf School, with free kayak rentals
- Kitty Hawk Bath House
- Avalon Pier
- Kill Devil Hills Bath House
- Bonnett Street
- Jennette’s Pier
Volunteers can bring their completed data cards to the Outer Banks Brewing Station, 600 S Croatan Hwy in Kill Devil Hills, from noon to 4 p.m. as their ticket to TrashFest, which features live music by local surfabilly band Mosquito Net, free food, beverages and fun.
In 2018, 135 volunteers in Dare County collected more than 650 pounds of debris.
