Those exhibiting symptoms in Brunswick County can now be tested for the coronavirus.

The county announced Wednesday that the tests are now available.

County officials are directing those who think they have symptoms to contact their primary medical provider first. For help finding a provider, contact Brunswick County Public Health Services.

The primary medical provider will determine who should get tested and will consider if the patient has a fever or lower respiratory symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath and been close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case within the past 14 days or if they have a negative rapid flu test.

The NCDHHS also updated its guidance Monday for medical professionals when considering whether to administer a COVID-19 test and more.

Full details about testing in Brunswick County including information from Novant Health primary clinics and Dosher Memorial Hospital is on the Brunswick County website.
