Cape Hatteras National Seashore is seeking a lessee for the Avon Fishing Pier built and first operated in 1964.
The National Park Service is accepting proposals through Aug. 7. Application details are on the park website.
Avon Fishing Pier is on seashore beach property adjacent to 41001 N.C. 12. The lease consists of a 2,213-square-foot pier house, and the wooden fishing pier, about 666 feet long. Seashore property in this area is limited to the ocean beach. The lease premises do not have or include an access road, parking area or septic system.
The National Park Service is leasing the Avon Fishing Pier to enable continued use of the pier for fishing and associated services as well as provide regular maintenance and upkeep of the premises, including the pier and pier house.
Applicants submitting proposals must provide their plans to provide visitor access to the premises, as well as plans to provide any support facilities they determine to be necessary for pier operations.
