Local governments in the 20 coastal counties will be given priority for a virtual workshop series next month to learn about grant opportunities on acquiring land and make improvements to beach and waterfront access, parks and boating facilities.

The workshop sessions scheduled for Jan. 21 and Jan. 26 will also show how to leverage funding from multiple grant sources, and work with funding agency representatives to help inform grant proposal development.

Workshop recordings will be made available for those interested who are not located in a coastal county.

Participants must register for each session separately. The sessions are designed to complement each other. Workshops will be hosted on Webex.

Register online for the 9:30-noon Jan. 21 session as well as the 9:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 26 session. Some reading will be required before the sessions.

Continuing education credits are available for some professions.

The agenda is available online and on the workshop webpage.

The North Carolina Coastal Reserve & National Estuarine Research Reserve is hosting the workshop and will be facilitated by Whitney Jenkins, coastal training program coordinator. She can be reached at 252-838-0882 or
